Venereal Disease

Venereal diseases are afflictions of the genitals and reproductive organs. The cause of these afflictions is completely unknown and, presumed to be, unpreventable.

History of Venereal Disease

The original name of venereal diseases were venerable diseases. The change in the name was attributed to a sloppy monk making copies of an ancient scroll describing the common afflictions of the Roman elite. The venereal diseases afflicted Roman emperors, senators, priests and generals, as well as their wives, lovers and consorts. These diseases became known as a mark of status in ancient Rome. This tradition carried on, as many prominent world leaders, artists, composers, philosophers and writers were suspected to have syphilis, at one time the most glamorous of the "venerable diseases".

Venereal Disease in the Modern Age

After the American, French and Russian revolutions, the glamour of monarchy became unfashionable, and with the decline of the monarchy, venereal diseases also became unfashionable. Syphilis and herpes were considered "tres bourgeois" and became something to hide.

Modern Advances in Fighting Venereal Diseases

Scientists have suggested that devices called "condoms" might prevent the transmission of venereal diseases. At this time, they have not figured out exactly how to use these "condoms", or even when. Research is on-going, and there are some disturbing findings emerging suggesting that there may be a link between lovemaking and venereal diseases. It is important to note that this new information is circumstantial and is only as reliable as the idea of global warming (also known as climate change or climate disruption), for example.

Categories of Venereal Diseases

Scientists classify venereal diseases based on various physical characteristics. The main categories of types of venereal diseases include itchy, burny, bumpy, drippy and makes-you-crazy. There are people who carry multiple categories simultaneously, many of these people like to hang out in bars often referred to as "Meat Markets." These people are called by many names, but mainly they are called sleazy.
